Characters, Lions Clubs Display Talent At Festival

EOSC’s Characters Club and the Wilburton Lions held their 2nd annual Talent Show as part of the Robbers Cave Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17, 2009. The show which kicked off just after Noon, featured an Adult Category and a Youth Category (for performers under 16). Cash prizes were provided for many of the performers, and door prizes were also distributed to audience members who were able to answer trivia questions in various categories. Door Prizes were generously donated by: Adelita’s, Unique Styles, Sinclair Gas Station, The Grill House, Alco, and Ali Martinez at the EOSC College Bookstore.

First Prize in the Youth Category was awarded to 10 year-old Macy Parks of Wilburton for her performance of “Second-Hand Rose.” Her $75 cash prize was provided by the Wilburton Lions Club. Second Place was awarded to 11 year-old Katelin Grammar of Talihina who performed a gospel song with guitar accompaniment. Her $50 cash prize was provided by Rudy O’Donley and the Fall Festival Entertainment Committee. Ten year-old Natalie Darby of Cameron was the 3rd Place winner with her rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Our Song.” Her $25 cash prize was provided by the Wilburton Lions Club. Seven year-old Madison McMahan, a singer from Hartshorne, was awarded a 4th Place prize of a $15 gift certificate from Every Occasion Jewelry of Red Oak.

First Prize in the Adult Category went to Dustin Grammar of Talihina who sang and played guitar to “Here I Stand.” Boomer Lowrie of Smithville received 2nd Place for singing and playing guitar to his own original song. Their cash prizes of $100 and $50 respectively were provided by Rudy O’Donley and the Fall Festival Entertainment Committee. Sixteen year-old Taylor Hamilton of Kansas, Oklahoma, who sang “Footprints in the Sand” won 3rd Place. Her $25 cash prize was provided by the EOSC Characters Club. Whitney Waldrop of Wilburton won a Free Admission to the Robbers Cave D-Bar T Stables Haunted Hayride for her 4th Place performance of “The Climb.” All proceeds from the Talent Show entry fees went to benefit the EOSC Characters Club and Theatre at Eastern.
