FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

What is Student Financial Aid?

Eastern has organized the Student Financial Aid Department to aid students in meeting their educational costs.

Where Do I Begin?

Each student who wishes to apply for financial aid will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can be obtained from our financial aid office, high school counselors, libraries, by phone at 1-800-4-FED-AID or online versions. The FAFSA online version can be found on their web site at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The policy of the Eastern Financial Aid Office is that financial aid for Summer 2010 is solely based on the 2009-10 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Financial Estimator

Would you like to get an estimate before you fill out the FAFSA application? This online financial estimator will give you an approximate amount of your loan and can be found at http://www.fafsa.org/calculators/

Do I Qualify?

Financial aid is granted to students depending on their degree of need. Using the FAFSA, a student's degree of need is determined by an analysis of such factors as family income, number of children in family, and value of family assets. The amount of "financial need" determines the amount of financial aid to be awarded.

What's Available?

Types of financial aid available to students include: Pell Grants, Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants, Academic Competitiveness Grant, Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grants, Tribal Grants and Scholarships, College Work Study Program, Perkins Loans, Stafford Loans, and Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students.

Student Loan Information

Direct Stafford Loan [Application Instructions]

The Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 (H.R. 4872) eliminated the Federal Family Education Loan Program
(FFELP) and requires all schools to participate in the William D. Ford Direct Lending Program. This means that Eastern Oklahoma State College Financial Aid has made the transition to the William D. Ford Direct Lending Program for student loans.

Eastern Oklahoma State College Financial Aid Office Participation in the Direct Loan Program Begins (August 2010)

Eastern Oklahoma State College will participate in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program beginning Fall 2010.  Students and parents who previously received loans through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program will now borrow through the Direct Loan Program. The FFEL Program’s Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) are called Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans in the Direct Loan Program.  Federal PLUS Loans are called Direct PLUS Loans.
